UNIT OBJECTIVES

  1. Identify history of Asian stereotypes
  2. Analyze the historical context of US-Asia relations
  3. Understand the historical roots and contemporary expression of these stereotypes

Image TASKS FOR THIS UNIT

  • Friday, May 23rd - Post your response to the reading questions in the discussion forum - Stereotypes by 5:00pm
  • Read and comment/respond to at least two other postings in the forum by 10pm.
  • Required online meeting 5:30-6:00pm for open Q&A. We're just going to do simple introductions, that's all for this unit. Our first real discussion sessions will be for unit 3. I'm experimenting with a new chat program. To join, click on Chat in the main menu. Next, click on Name/Topic asianamericas.net/aas345 and that should connect you to the chat room.

NOTE: In general, if you need assistance getting started or dealing with any technical problems, you can come by during office hours. Ultimately, it is your responsibility to find a way to successfully connect or else you will be losing points for discussion sessions during the semester.

Link down
hi everyone, like kittipong said, the link is down right now. it looks like that server is struggling with traffic/connection issues. hopefully it's just a temporary issue and the site will be back up soon.

i did a quick look around to see if there is a comparable alternative and there really isn't. everything else on the topic is either too long :zzz or too ideological :x

so, i would just wait and try again later if you haven't had a chance to read that article.
