AAS 345 OL - Contemporary Asian American Issues

UNIT OBJECTIVES

1. Examine second-generation issues
   
2. Critically examine concepts such as assimilation
3. Start thinking about the final project
   

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. What are the challenges that second-generation Asian Americans face?
   
2. What are the conflicts that emerge between generations for Asian American families?
   
3. Are the ideas of assimilation or accomodation useful in discussing second generation issues? If so, how? (Make sure that you define those terms if you answer this question)
   
   

TASKS FOR THIS WEEK

• Wednesday, March 12th  - NO ONLINE MEETING but do write a brief post on the final project discussion forum with what you're thinking about for the final project.
  
• Post your response to the reading questions in the discussion forum - Assimilation? by 5:00pm
• Respond to at least two other postings in the forum by 10:00pm

	Final Project For my final project I am considering a Lesson for Elementary school age children, "We have the Same Differences".  I would write a lesson plan that would allow children to safely examine how we are all the same with individual differences. I believe that if we allow children to talk about their differences, we enpower them to accept differences. It also allows children to embrace their own identities. Registered Report
